USBclean App Reviews
This app is just perfect. It does what it says: deletes all those „nasty“ Mac files on USB sticks formatted for and used under Windows. I do presentations with a beamer with built in USB reader and it just doesn´t „look nice“ to show all those unnecessary files to the public during file selection from USB stick. Now my stick is totally clean. Nice and smooth. Just drag your USB device to USBclean´s window and it does all the rest for you including device ejection. Just perfect.
It has a decent interface, lots of configurability, and seems to do exactly what it promises! Upon ejecting a disk using the app, and inserting it into a Windows PC, the disk was free of Trash, Spotlight, and DS_Store files. Would be nice if it also cleaned Windows’ “System Volume Information”, and Android’s “LOST.DIR", and other junk which isn’t really necessary to have on a removable USB disk.
As most folks know, the Mac leaves a lot of hidden files on drives that only serve to get in the way on other systems. Such as on my smart car’s radio when reading my USB drive. Yikes, for every song on it there was a duplicate non-funfuctional song to have to a) scan and b) skim through to get to the real song. Pain in the butt to say the least. So, this morning I decided to look into some way to remove all the hidden files. “Clean” my USB drive after copying all my favorite tunes to it via iTunes. I looked and looked. Found a few apps (outside of the App Store) and, most likely since I am running OS X (10.10) beta 3, they failed to even run. Then I searched within the App Store and found USBClean. And CLEAN it did. All I had to do was run it and drop my USB drive on it. It got rid of all the unnessasary files AND automatically ejected the drive. The only left to do was unplug it from my MacBook Air and plug it into my smart car and WOW, the only items displayed were REAL SONGS. THANK YOU so very much for building this magical software Russell. It has completely solved my problem.
Simple and Perfect
A 99 cents app that does exactly what’s advertised, quickly, cleanly and intuitively. Excellent app.
Just walk away
Does absolutely nothing but instantly crash. (exFat USB thumb drive)
I’ve been searching for a solution for so long that this app does simply and cleanly. This app is a must have for someone working between macs & PCs, especially if you have an external digital media player that has trouble with those anoying “._files”...
DEAD APP NO HELP
EAD APP, NO HELP
Works beautifully
After adding the missing update, program did everything
Annoying popup windows appear everytime in v.4.3.1
After this update everytime open the app, multiple windows appears on screen asking for multiple permissions to grant access to my folder to put some file for “Protected File Removal” feature to work even though already got green light indicators.
Simple and effective
Version 4.3 works on my Sequoia computer and version 4.2 does not; suggest getting new versions if your old one does not work and you posted a bad review. Installation includes downloading and installing a helper app, but the instructions are complete and easy to follow. I tested USBClean on a network disc (not a USB disc plugged into my computer) and it does network discs too not just USBs. This software is excellent.
Well worth the 5 bucks!
This simple App has saved me a lot of time and headaches.
USBclean
I purchased this cleaning program on an I Mac. I have followed all instructions without any success of files being cleaned. Please advise. Jacquie D. Goodman
Did exacly what I needed! Removing ghost files for vintage samplers.
I never write reviews but this app solved a massive annoyance when using vintage music samplers with modern media. Now i dont have to look at duplicates of every single file when scrolling through very small screens on a daily basis. Very easy to use as well, really a huge quality of life improvemnt for my workflow!
Great Little Helper
I've been using USBClean for a while and I think it's great little helper for safely ejecting drives especially if you're using your drives back and forth between different platforms. Thank you developer for your efforts.
Quick and simple..
Quick and simple for cleaning those pesky dot and other misc files off of thumb/external drives before using on other platforms
Doesn't work any more
Was great when I first got it, but now, even after I give it permissions for full disk access, it doesn't do anything. You can use the included dot_clean utility in the Terminal window to do the same thing now.
Performs Well
USBclean works well. It cleans up all of the "garbage" files on the USB drive containing music files to be played in my vehicles.
Doesn't work
I can't get the program to do anything. There are no instructions. A total waste of money.
Worth every penny!
I was having issues playing mp3 files in my 2017 Nissan Versa USB port because of the extra ._files. This made all those go away, just as the other reviews said. Made my USBs work as they should, when pugged into car USB ports with radios. Worth every penny, Thanks!
Does not remove all types of “.” files
Work good for the some of the “.” dot files created by Mac OS - but not all I have files like ” ._123456.pes" which are not deleted Works if you use ._AppleDouble
USB Clean
USB Clean app works well to clean-up all of the remaining files after deleting applications to the trash in Mac iOS Sierra. The fragmented files are deleted completely. The free version of USB clean worked so well, I upgraded to the Pro version, just to support the developer. Try this app for free and form your own opinion, but I think you will be very pleased with the application.
v2.0.1 ...not working
new version seems to not work at all... very disappointing.
Eaxctly what I need!
